Pragyan Jha
Ph.D. Student
I am Pragyan, originally from Ranchi, India. My early fascination with solving problems using basic engineering principles led me to the National Innovation Foundation in India. I pursued a bachelor’s degree (Btech) in chemical engineering at the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy, Vizag, in 2020. Engaging in projects, I explored wastewater management of shale gas fracking and 1D modeling of PEM fuel cells. After my undergrad, I worked as an Operations Engineer at HPCL (Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited), a prominent Indian PSU, gaining practical knowledge in chemical engineering, plant process design, and commissioning. This experience inspired me to delve deeper into sustainability and energy solutions, leading to my application for a Ph.D. program at NCSU.
Currently, I am pursuing my Ph.D. within the Abolhasani research group, focusing on accelerated synthesis and development of semiconductor nanocrystals. My goal is to address global energy challenges and make a meaningful impact on the world.
